The Hidden Athens, Presentation, June 6, 2012

Join us for a talk / presentation with John Leonard, titled

The Hidden Athens :
A Visual Tour of Key, Often Overlooked Traces of Ancient Athens

A visual tour of key, often-overlooked traces of ancient Athens' once-fortified, spring-fed landscape and now "hidden" or "forgotten" monuments -- from the central, little-known remains of the Bronze-Age and pre-Periclean Acropolis, to the previously pastoral banks of the nearby Ilissos and Eridanos Rivers, to the outlying network of mighty border fortresses and cliff-top castles, constructed more than 2000 years ago to protect Classical and Hellenistic Attica.

Mr. Leonard is a teacher, writer,  journalist and widely travelled archaeologist currently living in Athens, Greece.
Leonard’s own archaeological and historical interests focus on ancient Athens and Attica; ancient harbors and seafaring; underwater archaeology; the history and archaeology of Cyprus; the Greek East under the Romans; and the WWII history of Greece and Crete.
