Susan Ernst - Early Childhood Swimming
Ms. Ernst joins us from Colorado in the United States. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and an emphasis in teaching English as a Second Language. She is teaching third grade at ACS. Aside from helping students work their brains in the classroom, she also enjoys physical activities as well. Ms. Ernst is teaching JK and Kindergarten swimming classes for the after school program. She has taught swimming lessons in the past as well. Some of the activities she enjoys participating in the most are swimming, playing tennis, running, and downhill skiing.
Amanda Anastasopoulou - Early Childhood Swimming
Catherine Schulz - Swimming for grades 1-5
Ms. Catherine Schulz grew up and spent most of her life in northern Brazil. She moved back to Tennessee, U.S.A., and graduated from Union University with her Bachelor of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language and later her Master of Arts in Education. Ms. Schulz has always loved watching and participating in sports. Having grown up in Brazil, she developed a passion for soccer and played soccer on and off throughout her life, but found she was most comfortable in the water. During middle school she swam competitively in the youth division of Amapa, Brazil's, state team. Since then, she has always hoped to pass on her love for swimming to others and is excited to be coaching Beginning Swimming at ACS Athens.
Dimos Adamis - Swimming for grades 1-5
Mr. Dimos Adamis holds a degree in Physical Education & Sports Science with specialization in swimming from the University of Athens. He is a certified professional lifeguard. As an athlete he competed for the team of Panionios in several championships and as a coach, he has worked for different swimming academies for young children and for competitive club teams (Aias). During the Athens 2004 Olympic Games, Mr. Adamis has worked as a volunteer in the swimming competition. This is his first year coaching in the after school swimming program at ACS Athens.
Athanasia Kotsiani - Swimming for grades 1-12
Ms. Athanasia Kotsiani was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She holds a Bachelor degree in Physical Education & Sports Science and has recently completed her Master in the same field. She has been at ACS Athens for the past 6 years, as a PE Middle School teacher, an aquatics instructor and as the High School swim team coach. She is also a certified lifeguard and swimming judge. In addition, she has worked as an aquatics volunteer during the Athens 2004 Olympic & Paralympic Games.
Jeff Kalas - Swimming for grades 1-12
Newly arrived to ACS Athens, Mr. Kalas was raised in the Chicago area. He earned his MA in Counseling and Human Services from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. He also holds an MA in School Leadership from Concordia University Chicago and a BA in Sociology from Eastern Illinois University, where he was a member of the school's NCAA Collegiate Swim Team. Mr. Kalas has spent many years playing on a Men's Club Water Polo Team, participating in matches throughout the midwestern United States. He is bringing his competitive swimming experience and passion for the water to the Middle School Swim Team this year.
