Scholarship Opportunities

ACS Athens is happy to offer a number of scholarship opportunities for new applicants who wish to embark on a great learning adventure at the best international school in Greece, with all their tuition costs covered by a number of generous donors.

ACS Athens announces three new, full, 4-year Academic Scholarships for the 2018-19 academic year, in the names of "Thomas Gialamas", "Panagiotis Gialamas", and "JIC/ACS Athens" which will provide three new students entering 9th Grade in September 2018 with the unique opportunity to study and prepare for college in the best international school in Greece.

More specifically:

 

The "Thomas Gialamas" 4-year Academic Scholarship

Established in honor of the late father of Mr. Nick Gialamas, a member of the ACS Athens Advisory Council and Area President of the Midwest for "HUB International" in Chicago, IL.

 

The students must meet the following requirements:

  1. They must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (out of 4) or average score of 18 (out of 20).
  2. They must pass the ACS Athens Admissions Test (English & Mathematics)
  3. They must have unique and authentic talent in at least one academic area (Science, Art, etc.
  4. They must exhibit impeccable Ethos;
  5. They must not be related in any way to the Gialamas family;
  6. The students must write an essay in English reflecting on: "The responsibility of today's citizen to serve humanity." 

 

The "Panagiotis Gialamas" 4-year Academic Scholarship

Established in honor of the late father of Dr. Stefanos Gialamas, ACS Athens President, who was an educator that devoted 35 years in serving humanity by educating, inspiring and shaping the characters of his students, including underprivileged children.

 

The students must meet the following requirements:

  1. They must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 (out of 4) or average score of 18 (out of 20).
  2. They must pass the ACS Athens Admissions Test (English & Mathematics)
  3. They must have unique and authentic talent in at least one academic area (Science, Art, etc.)
  4. They must exhibit impeccable Ethos;
  5. They must not be related in any way to the Gialamas family;
  6. The students must write an essay in English, reflecting on: If we define "Ethos" as the distinguishing character, sentiment, moral nature, or guiding beliefs of a person, group, or institution, what is the Ethos that should characterize the 21st Century global citizen?

Both the "Panagiotis Gialamas" and the "Thomas Gialamas" High School Scholarships will cover the full cost of tuition and school fees per student for a maximum of four consecutive years, including the International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB). Interested students must submit their applications and cover letter for either of the 2 scholarships online, at www.acs.gr/admission-guide or contact the Office of Enrollment Management at 210-6070251 by April 30, 2018.


 

JIC/ACS Athens 4-year Scholarship

ACS Athens and JIC Corporation announces one new, full, 4-year Academic Scholarship, in the name of JIC, which will provide a new student entering 9th Grade in September 2018 with the unique opportunity to study and prepare for college in the best international school in Greece, attending the ACS Athens Academy (Grades 9-12).

Scholarship criteria:
The applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Be in good academic standing.
  2. Pass the ACS Athens Admissions Test (English & Mathematics)
  3. Have a unique and authentic talent in at least one academic area (Science, Art, etc.)
  4. Exhibit impeccable Ethos;
  5. The student must write an essay in English reflecting on: "The responsibility of today's citizen to serve humanity."

 


 

"Hasib & Diana Tamari Sabbagh" 3-year Scholarships for student/athletes (basketball)

ACS Athens announces the 13th consecutive round of Scholarships for student/athletes (basketball) for the school year 2018-19. These scholarships are intended for new students entering 10th Grade and cover a maximum of 3 years of tuition in ACS Athens.

 

The "Hasib Sabbagh & Diana Tamari Sabbagh" Athletic Scholarships will be awarded to two boys and two girls student athletes of basketball that will have to apply for admission by April 30, 2018.

Scholarship Criteria:
The recipients will be determined based on the following criteria:
  1. Basketball skills and sportsmanship (coach recommendations required, if a member of a team)
  2. Pass the ACS Athens Admissions Test (English & Mathematics)
  3. Academic records from previous school
  4. Positive personality and character
  5. Willing to participate in basketball training sessions and games of the school team during the ACS Athens basketball season
  6. Proven need of financial assistance through latest tax returns of parents and E9 real estate declaration

A personal interview and a tryout session in May will be required to demonstrate basketball skills, that will take place after the application deadline.

Purpose of Scholarship
The purpose of the "Hasib Sabbagh & Diana Tamari Sabbagh" Athletic Scholarships is to offer the opportunity to eligible students to attend the best American international school of Greece, while cultivating the prospects of scholarships in higher education institutions abroad. Scholarship recipients will be challenged in Academics and in Athletics, and will be given a unique opportunity to reach a higher standard education while doing what they love: play basketball.

The scholarship funds will be available to the recipients as long as they comply to the rules and regulations of the Athletic Scholarships, and the code of conduct of ACS Athens, as it is described in the school's policy.

How to apply:
All those interested, please contact the Office of Enrollment Management at +30 (210) 6393200 for an appointment. To apply, please can fill out the online application form and attach or send a letter of interest for the Scholarship program you're interested in.
Essay Guidelines:
The essay should be an original piece of work. It should be written in the applicant's own words and not copied from any books, articles, or from the internet. The essay should be typed, using double line spacing, Times New Roman font (12 pt) with each page numbered, and with the essay title on the top of each page. It should NOT be printed double-sided, so there should be typing on just one side of each page. The essay should be a minimum of 900 words, but not more than 1500 words, excluding the title and references if any.
